Hi Paul! I like your colors! The depth tricks are welcome as well. speak soon
  • Paul Zadie plus 11 months ago
Thanks. The color was one of the most important aspects on this for me to differentiate between the two "worlds".

Thanks Daniel. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The camera setup was an HVX200 with a Brevis 35 Flip adapter and Canon FD lenses. As for how smooth it is, I did the finish work and color in After Effects 32 bit mode. After everything was done, I applied a tiny amount of the Noise Reduction filter to everything. Then I rendered it uncompressed. Finally, I encoded in in Compressor to h.264 with everything set to max quality. That's pretty much it.

I'm glad you liked it. There was quite a bit of work in post, but extra time and effort usually pays off.

Wow, brilliant work! I really enjoyed watching that... beautiful camera work and color grading. I would also like to know if you have any tricks for uploading your films, it looked so smooth!

Thanks Jeff. The camera work is all due to my DP, Ryan Krause. I never had to worry about anything but the actors and the story with him on duty. The color grading was me, so thanks for that compliment as well.

Here's what I replied to someone else about the smoothness:

As for how smooth it is, I did the finish work and color in After Effects 32 bit mode. After everything was done, I applied a tiny amount of the Noise Reduction filter to everything. Then I rendered it uncompressed. Finally, I encoded in in Compressor to h.264 with everything set to max quality. That's pretty much it.

    I hope that helps.

    Cheers!

Nice short. I really like the color treatment and cinematography - the contrast between the two realities. Looks like this was a lot of fun to shot.
  • Paul Zadie plus 8 months ago
Thanks Donald! We had loads of fun on that shoot. I hope you find a carnival for your upcoming shoot.
