Sayonara 0 Series Shinkansen
The "0" Series Shinkansen were Japan's first trainsets to run on the high speed rail network (Tokaido Shinkansen Line) in 1964.
After 44 years of the service, the "0" Series rolling stock was retired on December 14, 2008. Regular "Kodama" service ended back on November 30, 2008 while three special "Hikari 347" service runs were added for mid-December.
The final Hikari 347 (San-yon-nana, a play on sayonara or goodbye) pulled into JR Hakata Station at 6:01pm signifying the end of an era.
This video compiles 0 Series runs on November 30, December 6, December 13, and December 14.
