The Manalo Movement
The Manalo Movement was established in 2006, by a number of students at San Francisco State University. While these students were taking a class here at SF State, they learned about the accolades that Victoria Manalo-Draves accomplished. Feeling that Victoria Manalo-Draves should be enshrined into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, these students took it upon themselves to help get her into BASHOF. Soon after gaining this new found knowledge, the Manalo Movement was born.
The organization's mission statement is simple, “In the spirit of Victoria Manalo Draves, who persevered through the racial barriers in her diving career; the Manalo Movement will inspire its members and the community to educate, take action, and honor Asian American heroes/heroines from the past and present."
