On Saturday May 27, 2011 the people of Saugus gathered to remember its fallen war heroes in the annual Memorial Day parade. The parade ran its traditional route from Cliftondale Square to Saugus Center via Lincoln Avenue and Central Street, with a ceremony acknowledging veterans at Riverside Cemetery. The concluding ceremony was held in the shadow of the Civil War monument at Saugus Center facing the Old Burial Ground.
In addition to numerous veterans organizations, youth groups and local officials, notable marchers included Senator Scott Brown and USS Constitution Commanding Officer Timothy Cooper.
