I am very excited about this book and the Domino Project approach to publishing it. Derek Sivers brings his originality, openness and generosity to everything he does, all of which makes for a better world.

While I appreciate the point, Derek and wholeheartedly agree that too much MBA analysis can lead to paralysis, it's a bit irresposible to say happiness and profits above all else are all that matter.(It gives me shivers that you are using the Mob as a metaphor, but that's besides the point: Beyond their glitz. glamour and simplicity, they kill and terrorize people!) You do reference "helping people" so I think that is part of your point as well. Maybe the message should really be: Profits and happiness, balanced with social responsibility to your community and your employees, are REALLY all that matter!

Funny and thought provoking: I think that focus on keeping your consumers happy can be more obvious to smaller business (you can be literally closer to your consumer) : a huge opportunity is for big brands to learn how to keep (or create) that entrepreneurial focus on the consumers needs, not just on bottom lines.

Love it, Derek. Found myself nodding my head in agreement. Just one thing... I suppose everyone will have a different definition of the term, "profitable." ")

This is a very well presented metaphor for our sad decline in to corporatization at all levels. Whereas I agree with Maria about the mob's darker side (which Derek alludes to), I recognize many parallels to mob activity in apparently legal, day-to-day, administrative offices. But that's a whole new discussion.

Whereas education is a critical aspect of society, over-education, to the point of being shaped in to just another cog in a machine, is over-valued.

Somehow I liked you better before seeing these videos Derek. You make some good points, but come off as preachy and condescending. Perhaps your brush is too broad.

  • Well done Derek. A thought-provoking and yet profoundly powerful message communicated in a simple and entertaining way. Bravo sir. I shall be sharing these far and wide through the internet and the outernet.

Derek, These videos are great. I've been sharing them, I need to order your book.

I find your messages direct and entertaining with your messages. I am not a fan of the mob, but I got your message. I didn't feel you were endorsing bad things! Thank you!
