After a tragic shooting a party that some of our students attended, we began to discuss the meaning of life; and why people can try to take it from you as if it had no value.

The party was a reflection of MTVs My Super Sweet 16... "This series gives you an up close and very personal look at the extravagant and sometimes extreme measures..."

The shooting at this party lead us to discuss, fame, greed, class, gangs, and again the meaning of life.

I connected some of this issues raised in our discussion to "The House on Mango Street" where a young man who just attended a party dies after a hit an run.

I thought of the young lady who had been shot. Who had no name. She was referred to as "Ole Girl that Got Shot..." She had no name. She was hit...with bullets. And someone ran.
