I thought it'd be cool to take video footage from trains as they pass through stations at high speed and then slow the footage down. Here's the result.
I used a Kodak Playsport ZX5 pocket HD cam recording at 720p 60fps. I then slowed the footage down to between 4-5% the original speed using Twixtor.
I found that the playsport lens is rather slow and couldn't adjust exposure quickly enough, so I couldn't get good footage from the main underground tube stations [e.g. Oxford Circus]. Instead I had to stick with overground trains.
Initially I tried this using a high speed camera - a Kodak Exilim FC-100 at 210fps and 410fps. However, the resolution was really poor and it was too grainy in low light. So I decided to stick with using a pocket HD cam and slowing it down using twixtor.
I know there's a lot of warping in places. I tried to minimize it, but as everything was moving [well, I was the one moving] it meant there was no clear background to separate. I'm sure people more experienced using Twixtor could minimize/eliminate the warping, but I couldn't. Either way, I still think it's interesting enough to upload.
MUSIC: I made the music for the video. Hope you like it.
