    I know "the love of money is the root of all evil" doesn't fit so well into the rhythm, but it's the correct statement, not "money is the root of all evil." You'd think by now that David Byrne would know there's a world of difference in the two phrases.

    Actually we all were aware of 1 Timothy 6:10, thanks. I believe Congo uses those lyrics at the beginning, but it doesn't fit rhythmically in the actual song.

    Personally I prefer the NIV version (starting at verse 9):

    "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
