A Norwegian expedition of three ascended the summit of Aconcagua (6962 meters above sea-level) without serious incident on New Years Day 2008 via the Vacas valley, after sixteen days of labour and acclimatization. The highest camp was at Camp Kolera at 6000 meters and was quite an experience. From Camp Kolera we descended to the trail-head through the desert-like Horcones valley in three days.
