Everyday, the pediatric specialists of The Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida save kids with critical illnesses and catastrophic injuries from our five-county area. In fact, The Children's Hospital has the number one survival rate for babies among the neonatal intensive care units in Florida.

As needs continue to climb, The Children's Hospital - the only NACHRI accredited children's hospital in southwest Florida - routinely runs at 104% occupancy. Admissions have grown to just over 5,000 in 2008. In-patient surgeries have risen to 1,200 annually - the smallest surgical patient weighs just 12 oz.

Outpatient surgeries have increased to 4,000 per year and the total number of outpatient cases has grown to more than 41,000 annually. With greater needs than its strained facility can handle, it sometimes happens that children are sent to remote hospitals, causing great stress to these young patients and their parents.

That's why The Children's Hospital has committed to building a new facility, expanding and consolidating pediatric services into an ultra modern hospital designed specifically to meet children's needs.
