Designer and Flash pioneer Joshua Davis dropped by The Nerdery to deliver his talk “Unknown Journey” on his use of the HYPE framework and the importance of learning from your failures. As one of our developers described him, "as Jeffrey Zeldman is to HTML/CSS standards, Joshua Davis is to Flash development." And if you don’t know what that means, it’s a pretty high compliment.

Through his websites Praystation and Dreamless.org, Davis influenced a new generation of digital artists. As his biography on Apple’s website describes, “Davis creates electronically generated graphic compositions of almost unimaginable complexity and individuality. Equally at home with print and electronic media, he builds his own Flash-based programs to combine and recombine colors borrowed from nature with forms that include organic shapes, text elements, and other symbols.”
