    take the frame-pack off and you can carry the bikes a lot easier, even hands free -- good when you have to climb w/bike

    They are heavy bikes and the frame bags were full. having a 30lb pugs on your shoulders while boulder hopping with a 30 lb pack as well would be pretty sketchy!
