I was out and about looking to shoot some test footage in low light and evening time with my new Creative Labs Vado HD 720P pocket cam. Our downtown area looks extra special this time of year, so I decided to do a short shoot there. I have always been fond of peering into the shop displays downtown. The little knick knacks almost seem to have a magical quality about them. I encourage everyone in the area to come down and visit our historic downtown. I am sure that you will find someone wonderful for that special someone in your life. This footage has been edited with Pinnacle Studio 12 Ultimate. I added filters and soft focus effects to it, as well as transitions and lighting tweaks. If you would like to see raw footage from the Vado HD, please look at my Car Show video posted on Youtube. I will post more Vado HD samples here on Vimeo soon. I hope you will enjoy the video. Hold your loved ones close and snuggle the night away. Enjoy!

Update(s): I hope the brightness holds up with this upload. I had tweaked it on my PC, but it will be hard to deliver the same experience on other devices. Due to its subtle details in the dark tones, I did not want to over compensate with to much exposure or noise. I have noticed that the frame rate seems to have been affected. It was 30fps originally, looks like it was reduced on Vimeo. Take note it is smoother than that on my PC, Youtube, or other media.

Thank you! I am sure the Flip Mino HD is good too, but I liked the wider angle lens and longer recording time of the Vado HD. :-)

nicely done. The park benches scene almost looks like tilt-shift! :-)

Chris, thank you very much! Yes, I indeed use some tilt-shift effects on this video. :-)

    Who did the music?

Chris, the band is Jars of Clay and the name of the songs are the first two tracks from their 2007 Christmas cd.

Very nice. This sold me on the Vado HD. It's nice to know what the Vado footage looks like heavily processed - it looks great. I think the very wide angle is the perfect choice for a camera like this. It reminds me of an old 8mm camera.

    Hey, GREAT footage!

Are you shooting in the highest HD available on the Vado?

Also, what was the upload process on the video? I've been looking at almost all the Vado videos uploaded on Vimeo, but the quality of them seems to be all over the place. Some videos are good, others are actually rather horrible, and very few - like yours - are great quality.

Oh, and how did you do those sweet transitions with the blurs? It's probably a dumb question, but I'm a novice with this kind of stuff!
