Starting in 2004, the NYS Department of Health has been holding an annual memorial for EMS personnel (EMTs, paramedics, and other support folk) who died in the line of duty. The location is the "Tree of Life" at Empire State Plaza in Albany.
This first year's commemoration honored the members who died in the 9/11 attacks, as well as numerous other folk from earlier years.
