Diving off the deep submarine canyons can be a sobering experiencing. You have to remember that there is virtually no bottom (Scripps Canyon effectively has a bottom of over 300 fsw or more in most divable spots). So it is easy to reach depths were nitrogen narcosis can play fun and games with you.
