Exotik-a-GoGo is that enchanting sound of Jazz instrumentation over jungle rhythms, tropical birdcalls mixed with vibraphone, and the pseudo experience of being transported to an exotic island destination.
"Similau" was originally written in 1948 by Leopoldo González & later translated to English by Harry Coleman, with music by Arden Clar.
The song is quite possibly inspired by a voodoo chant dedicated to the spirit Similó, who is said to have a reputation for being aggressive, for loving blood, and for eating human beings. Generally described as "supernatural magicians," they also can heal and protect those who invoke them.
