This is a breakdown for how Valve's stylized character shader can be accomplished using a RenderMan based renderer.

If it's one thing that urks me about rendering, it's how LONG it takes! Complex rendering techniques take massive amounts of time to calculate. As such I'm quite fond of finding faster and less intensive rendering methods, which is why I began researching video game shaders. Valve has a fairly detailed explanation on this particular shader and I felt it was worth looking into. Each frame took only a couple seconds to render.
