Hiking the Ulupaina loop trail on Oahu, Hawaii on June 28th, 2011. (Note: The route shown in the video is the trail done in a counterclockwise direction.) The Ulupaina loop trail is a short hike totaling about four miles. It can be done in either direction, clockwise being the hardest. It winds in and out of small gulches, climbs to a power line tower at the base of the Ko'olau mountain range, and heads back to the starting point on a wide, undulating ridge. Although short, the hike serves up a great workout and is perfect for trail running.
