LAND OF RETURNS is a Western about a woman, driven by brutality, who must free herself from violence or else be consumed by it.
1893. The Australian Goldfields. A pragmatic Irish prostitute named Ruth had hopes for her future, but is brutally raped and almost killed. Once recovered, her disfigured body takes away her opportunities and focuses all her energies onto one thing: revenge. Her quest for vengeance forces her to live off the hardened and unforgiving land, freeing her from both men and society.
She tracks down her assailant and confronts him in the Australian bush, only to realize that this journey has left her empowered, independent and free. The central confrontation in LAND OF RETURNS explores the conflict between the masculine and feminine, between nature and civilization and Australia's colonial history.
However above all else, Ruth's journey explores what is necessary to recover from brutal violence and abuse. Ruth achieves redemption by relinquishing the violence that moulded her.
