'Brandy' is probobly the best known song by Los Angeles California mega-band Greenhouse Effect....this 'internet cyberspace' band has challenged internet stapels like Tila Tequila and pornography for internet 'views' supremacy!
Greenhouse Effect really actually existed long LONG AGO...both frontman Clark Hagins and guitarist Phil Keegan have laid down dualing claims that 'G.e. is the 'original' grunge rock band ,..and long way before Nirvana or Green Day"; "We just had these great ideas for alternative rock music way back then" says Hagins....
"We would mix the Who with Deep Purple and Iron Butterfly and Zeppelin but we definitely had this punk rock psychedelic underground Sst records and Black Flag Greg Ginn twist to us...we were simple guys who showed up at a gig wearing whatever clothes we happened to be wearing that day,...we existed right in the middle of the Sunset strip 'glam metal' days way way back in the 1980's,..man ,..we were the fuckin' coolest hipsters there were,..our bassist Rick Carmody was always wearing flannels and probobly in honor of Cliff Burton - and 'thats' where the music industry got the idea ..for all the bands in 1991 to put on Hang tens and flannels,..much of this goes back to the Carmody's house in Torrance near El Retiro park,,..Ted's house was always trashed,..and 'thats' where the word 'grunge' comes from,..maybe that and Niel Young (laughs)..."
Hagins uses quite strong language when he discusses his hatred for today's music scene and bands like 'My chemical Romance' ; "they fuckin' suck" says Hagins..."they're no where as good or as soulful as G.e. "
"Brandy" is quite an odd song indeed for Greenhouse Effect as it sounds more like The Smiths or the Cure than it does a hard rocking garage grunge band,..."yeah, Brandy is a weird one" says Hagins.."it sounds like New Order (Laughs)"
Today, Brandy is one of the top songs on the internet,..it and White Black Thang..a song resembling John Cougar Mellencamp...have garnished G.e. much world wide attention and fanfare...."Our old drummer Greg Tarpley told me in an email that he can't believe how big G.e. has gotten on the net now,..he's seen the zillions of plays at google and he's like dude...lets jam again (laughs)...man,..this is wild" says Hagins - AP.

"I was into faggy shit like Morrisey and psychedelic furs and the Jesus and Mary Chain" says Higgins "I was always hoping nobody would ever find out (Laughs)"...

as for grunge, Hagins says he was into making weird noises in his own home studio in Redondo beach,..long before he met Keegan..."i converted my little bedroom downstairs at 251 in Torrance into like this 'studio' room where i had like five Sony tape recorders and a reel to reel or two,..then i would tear out the black paper in all these little speakers that i would collect at swap meets...and i would multi-track like this really high end distorted guitar over and over and then i would pile it all onto a 'master tape' which was the reel to reel,..there were miles of wires everywhere,..you couldn't even see my floor ! thats how many cables and chords there were ! i would re-record songs like 'disguises' and 'i can see for miles' by the who...then i would go listen to the Clash (laughs)"
