A proof-of-concept for Project PERRY, an enhanced stored-value card that incorporates e-paper to display a passenger's current remaining balance.
Courtesy GROUNDlab's resident coil-design genius Todd Bailey, here's a somewhat exploded version with all the essential parts - a coil, a microcontroller (powered wirelessly by the same current that allows the card to pay the fare) and the e-paper display itself, which decrements the stated value on the card with just a quick tap. This rough proof-of-principle was followed by a technical prototype vimeo.com/35340626
