(warning: naked woman crawling in grass from 2:52 to 3:05)
five days in manhattan - my fifth time there, but my first time with the d90. my friend ally was in class during the day, which meant plenty of video and picture time while i waited for her to get out.
lens: nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 (would have preferred a sharper lens, but the vr helped out tremendously considering all shots were handheld)
song: the shortwave set - glitches 'n' bugs (marshmellow mike remix) [myspace.com/theshortwaveset]
video installation in moma: pipilotti rist - pour your body out [pipilottirist.net]
typeface: gotham black [typography.com/fonts/font_styles.php?productLineID=100008]
photos: flickr.com/photos/wrightmight/sets/72157610880813743/
post-process: convert avi to prores 422 mov with quicktime pro (so i could import to premiere pro on mac), clip edit, mb looks, and convert to h.264 in premiere pro. no 'stair-step removal' done, although i might do that in the future then re-upload.

Like the city. I hadn't the time for the Moma on my visit. Nice edit and color Patrick! D90 seems to do it's filmjob.
    Can you explain the 'stairstepremoval'?
  • Patrick Wright 11 months ago
thanks! stair-stepping is one of the biggest flaws of the D90. it's easiest to notice with lines - if you pause the video right at the beginning, you'll notice the edges of the plane wing look slightly jagged. here's a thread regarding the issue and ways to remedy it in post: dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?s=9c776178d1c2f76cd473713a117f2010&t=149663

very interesting way it came up ! Nice clip ! I hope that will be more.... And one more thing - do you remember what your ISO was on that..?
  • Patrick Wright 11 months ago
generally 400, but the iso varied throughout. in dimly lit spots (example - inside the natural history museum) i definitely had to use 3200.

Well done. I was there with my family for a week recently also - we had snow in Central Park. Did not shoot any video but will next time...

Thanks for the warning about the naked lady. I diverted my eyes just in time.

Love the MOMA footage, especially the muscle-y guy looking baffled by the painting. I know how he feels.

thank god i saved you from seeing naked boobies. hilarious side note about that dude- i randomly saw him two other days while in new york, wearing the same exact shirt!
