The first group fruit tree gleaning took place Saturday, July 9, 2011, with the permission of the Dunwoody Preservation Trust and help from the Dunwoody Community Garden, Dunwoody City Hall, the City of Dunwoody Sustainability Commission, the Dunwoody Police, and a metro-Atlanta fruit gleaning volunteer group group named Concrete Jungle.
In just one hour, 567 pounds of pears were gleaned, which were then donated to a local food pantry. In previous years, the majority of this fruit simply rotted.
What on earth is really possible?
