Matt
As for Artemis, you're right!
Keep it up, Eoin. I can already tell Book 6 is going to be amazing.
I wanted to throw in my two {cents} ;) about your latest blog and wish to say that I think you should keep writing Artemis Fowl books. Definitely you should go past 7 at least. I always say 8 is a magical number. Ha ha. Mainly because that is my favorite number and if you turn it side ways, it means Infinity, which is, of couse, forever. I will pay good money for any future Artemis Fowl books when they come out, to that I promise.
Also, I wanted to say Hurah for Hollywood making Artemis Folw a movie. I will definitely be seeing it when it comes to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania>>United States (of course). I am eager to see what actor can play Artemis and match my imaginations. For example, In The LOTR and Harry Potter (at least the first HP movie) movies, the characters on screen matched my imagination so well, I was completely blown out of the water. I had not, before then, experienced a movie matching my imagination. I'm not sure if that is the skill of the director, or the skill of the writer. Whichever, I am fully anticipating the release of the 1st Artemis Fowl movie and the 6th Artemis Fowl book.
I actually just recently became enthralled by you Artemis Fowl series. This is the funny thing; I was strolling through Borders in the middle of July, eagarly anticipating the last Harry Potter book (and NO, I do not compare your writings to J.K.Rowlings because you are both in your own league.) when I saw 'Artemis Fowl:The Lost Colony' on sale. The cover grabbed me and so I read the back cover and it sounded interesting enough, so I bought it along with several other books meant to nurish my need to read. I read one book before yours, that which I cannot remember at the moment, though if I go up into my room and glance at my book shelf, I'd remember. Anyway, I read your book second and was so enveloped by the (5th) book, that when I bought Harry Potter 7 the day it came out, I was still reading Artemis Fowl:The Lost Colony and I didnt read Harry Potter till I finished three days after HP7 came out. Doesn't sound like much, but in my mind, that is a big complement to you and your writing, seeing as how I've been a devoted HP fan since I was 12, and I am 20 now, Annnnddddd because I, being so devoted to books in general, did not bother to find out whether or not the Artemis Fowl book was of a series or not. Here is the funny part: I did not realize the Artemis Fowl book I had was the 5th book till I finished it.
So, after I read the last Harry Potter book, The two out of three books of The Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon) (which I devoured) and worked 30 hours a week and went camping for 4 days in between, I researched your books and went to Borders, and bought the First Artemis Fowl book. I ate it up of course, as your writing style in the 5th book intrigued me and made me laugh quite often.
Only last week did I go online and buy Artemis Fowl 2, 3, and 4 through Borders.com. So, now here I am on the very last day of August at 11:11am (the magic moment) having just finished Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code and salivating at the thought that, perhaps, Artemis Fowl: Opal Decent will arrive in the mail today. You have made a fan out of me.
I will, however, give your other writings a look over, especially Airman, which sounds good by your description.
I am very happy to hear the You are writing a 6th Artemis Fowl book and the reason this makes me happy is that, You might release at some point in 2008, or as Wikipedia says(but you can never really trust that site, seeing as how any old person can edit the information) the 6th Artemis Fowl book, that would be just Perfect for me because The Final book of the Inheritance Trilogy is Rumored to be published in summer 08, and with Artemis Fowl possibly coming out around the same time, I will be a happy little sprite with much to read. And Reading is my Haven.
Have a good Labor day Weekend, Mr. Eoin Colfer....oops...I guess that's an American holiday only, but I think every country should celebrate a Labor Day because doesn't everybody do some kind of labor for a living?? Even writing is a labor. Labor day originated from a desire by the Central Labor Union to create a day off for the "working man". So why not celebrate it, for the working man???
Have a good weekend, whatever you celebrate.
