16. Christmas Eve To Day
This is our family gathering during Christmas. Wanted to capture something that's a memory of the family members and the images I saw during the celebrations.

All of it shot with HV20/RNG35 using a Nikon 50mm and a Olympus 80-200mm

You make better shots with your HV20 than my FX7 (both with RNG35). I really have a problem with my achromat !!!

    some lovely shots.
  • I have the brevis flip which has an excellent achromat and also I believe the flip helps get rid of some optical aberration as well.

Peter wow! That was really great. Such a nice feel to everything and the song was perfect with the footage. So what set-up did you use again?
  • Thanks, I really enjoyed putting this piece together. I shot using HV20/RNG35 adapter and just a prime 50 and a 80-200 lens.

Hey Peter. I've been watching this clip multiple times a day since I first discovered it! It is really the BEST 35mm adpted footage that I've seen.

Did you do anything else in post to the video? Like convert to 24P? Any other "filmic" filters? Most stuff shot with a Brevis looks really "filmic" but this clip looks even more so like film. Any tips on how you achieved that?

    Thanks.
  • Thanks, this clip did turn out great, I personally think its one of the best I captured with the adapter

First thing I'll say about making anything look more filmic is Light!! I know this is obvious but its very important. I did shoot this interlaced and then deinterlaced in post. Colour graded it as well which helps it to give the look. Some other things I think made it work is using lowest fstop possible and shooting things with large distance between them to create the more evident bookeh.

Shooting a wedding today so hopefully I can do as well again with it :)

    Very Nice.
How sturdy is the rng35? What kind of support is needed for a longer lens like the 200mm?
  • Just normal 15mm rails, and a grip at the front to make sure there is support on the front end of the RNG if you want 200mm lens use. With normal lenses you wouldn't really need rails but its better to take of stress off the cameras threads. I would say the RNG is very solid build so no issues with sturdiness.

I love this video and some post effects like the flash over the dog in almost the first minute. What did you use to put this flash?
  • I used just the basic tools within Avid, time ramping and animated the exposure so it flashed
