This showreel is a combination of different ideas, techniques and skills I have been developing (and still developing) both professionally and personally.
Here is a breakdown of the contents and projects in the showreel. All work is edited with Apple Final Cut or Adobe Premiere
Dalebrook RFID - corporate presentation animations
For this project, along with logo design and Identity, I was required to create a series of animations showing RFID tags in use (in this example in a sushi restaurant) for a large corporate product launch at an exhibition. This project needed a modern strong identity to suite the technology, which is why I am especially pleased with how the final animations/illustrations worked. Software Used: 3DS Max
Woodland World - short animation
This is a personal project that combined several techniques and ideas I had been thinking about such as a revolving circular scene and a ‘shadow puppet’ look. Software used: Animation created with Apple Motion and people animated with 3ds Max (MOCAP).
Highway - short animation
Another personal project and one of my favourite pieces of work so far. This was a real labour of love! It took about a year to finish, and it pushed my then aging pc to the limits. I had evolving ideas and stories based around this city, but ultimately the goal for me was to firstly build and populate this enormous set, and then to get in there with my virtual camera and capture in and animation this Sci-fi world. Software used: Autodesk 3ds Max / Apple Final Cut / Apple Colour
Little Town - short animation
One of the first animations I created with 3DS Max. Armed with only basic modelling skills, making a simple ‘toy’ world, proved to be the perfect project to learn 3D techniques on the go (and ultimately led to the creation of ‘Highway’). Software used: Autodesk 3ds Max
Product - product design and visualisation
The next few clips are some of what I get up to in my 'day job'. The children’s plates are designed, Illustrated and finally visualised by myself and the final products can be found in UK supermarkets such as Asda and Tesco across the country.
Theme World - short animation
This piece I did whilst studding in London (Central Saint Martin’s College of art and Design) and concluded some if the subjects such as theme parks and ‘theming’ I had been researching for my degree. Software used: Adobe After Effects and Poser
Disney World - short animation
Following on from previous themes developed as a student, my interest in themeparks continues with a 3D animation/map of Disney World. Software used: Autodesk 3ds Max
Penguins
As usual, I end up wanting to give my illustrations a bit of movement and depth, and this series of penguin illustrations is no exception. Software used: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects
Architectural Renderings
With my 3D skills I have done a number of architectural visualisations such as the short clip seen here for a developing restaurant. Software used: Autodesk 3ds Max
Product Videos
Again back to my current day job and I have put together numerous short product presentation videos so I thought I would include some clips here.
Continuing on from subjects and techniques seen here, I am now experimenting with character animation and rigging in Autodesk 3ds Max and using mapping with Autodesk Mudbox. I am also experimenting with live action video and using Autodesk Motion Builder to combine 3D into live action scenes. I am also working on small projects involving more traditional 2D animation techniques.
