Brief Synopsis:
For the Resistance provides an introduction to the popular struggle in Palestine: What is it? Why does it exist? What are the challenges in the movement? and What will be the next step?
Speaking with Palestinian activists and intellectuals on the ground, For the Resistance shares concepts and ideas behind the culture and politics of the popular resistance, contributing to the discussion on the challenges and successes of the Palestinian fight against the Israeli occupation and to realize a nation.
This film follows villagers' struggles against housing demolitions, Israeli settlements and building of the wall in the small town of Al-Ma'sara in the West Bank, exploring issues of human rights, women's rights and resistance tactics and strategies.
Evolving from a history of uprisings (or Intifadas), the popular resistance in Palestine is a comprehensive and wide expression of the aspirations for freedom and dignity attempted by the Palestinian people. It is a unique example of resistance, not only because of the particulars embodied by the Israeli regime, but marked by the inner elements characterizing this struggle in the long term.
