From Friday 27 to Sunday, May 29, 2011, a huge crowd followed the adventures of the Giants Royal de Luxe in the streets of Nantes...

Royal de Luxe is a French mechanical marionette street theatre company. They were founded in 1979 by Jean Luc Courcoult. Based in Nantes, the company has performed in France, Belgium, England, Germany, Iceland, Chile, Australia and Mexico.

Great sun drenched transition at 01:38 and stunningly epic slow-mo shot of the dog at 05:12. Nice colour grading throughout and the cutaways to people/crowds contextualises the huge nature of the event.

Superbe mise en image d'un événement Royal de Luxe, tellement difficile à raconter pour ceux qui n'ont pu y assister.
Comme d'habitude, excellente coordination entre musique et images. J'ai beaucoup aimé le changement de rythme également.
Enfin, dis à Sam que ce n'est pas drôle de se faire passer pour un Russe ;-))

Effectivement environ 600 000 personnes en trois jours,
un monopod et mon 5d... c'était sport :)
Oui Fantastique spectacle de Royal de Luxe, il se passe beaucoup d'autres choses pendant ses trois jours mais que je n'ai pas pu filmer... et très belle musique de Michel Augier que l'on aperçois avec sa guitare sur ce drôle de camion/scène.

Quelle magnifique images! ...something about this really made me miss living in Europe.

As Vitùc mentioned, must have been challenging shooting in that environment, but you made it come together beautifully in the edit. Spectacular color grading throughout!

FKY well done... i know a little bit of this story, cuz this began here at mexico. This was made for the second century of the independence of mexico and for the century of the mexican revolution. The granpa lived in the independence and the granddaughter lived in the revolution. So she went in search of him, it was like five parades which they simulate the research. At the end she found him and that's the one you've recorded. The dog is a Mexican kind named Xoloescuincle. The scenes are the same ones that i saw here at my city, in the presentation. very well made and, over everything, you exposed the colors.

One last thing, the wall that felt of the sky is a reference about the muralism which is a painting shed developed by diego rivera, siqueiros and other (you can see this reference in the motion picture "Frida"). In this wall you also find mexican characters of our history.

and by the way, the fountain shots and the entry one, are amazing. The best way to begin this video.

I could not show all things happen during this 3 days...for example they bring the dog EL XOLO in a huge block of ice melting at the sun.

WOW Franck - this is the finished piece. I can't believe the creative genius behind these giants - truly imaginative, artful and heroic. This form of art is unique - and the enthusiasm of the crowd says it all. I loved the shots of the sleeping giant under the umbrella, and the slow mo shots of the dog, and the close ups of the feet. I wonder what size shoe that is, heh heh.

Beautiful work you did in capturing this epic show - you have a variety of shots that keeps visual interest, and the edit flows smoothly!

Yes Paul, this guys are really amazing, so creatif and above all they released a great energy. I could not miss them but I didn't have time to catch all the other times. It happens so many things with them. But they come back for sure !
