1. New Dream Mini-Views: Visualizing a Plenitude Economy
7 months ago
This fun animation provides a vision of what a post-consumer society could look like, with people working fewer hours and pursuing re-skilling, homesteading, and small-scale enterprises that can help reduce the overall size and impact of the consumer economy. Narrated by economist and best-selling author Juliet Schor (julietschor.org).

the non-profit cooperative business model has been used successfully for centuries, within the capitalist system, to provide qualities services, products, and employment to those communities who have opted to utilize such a business model. Credit unions, food co-ops, and even profit driven co-ops like dairygold, sunkist, and others have proven the use of co-ops over corporations to be beneficial overall. Intentionally utilizing strictly non-profits to provide the services and products that our failing governments and corporations are currently struggling to provide at either minimum cost to themselves or for maximum profits, respectively, seems to be the only truly viable solution available to us at the moment. especially considering it's a solution that requires little to no change in our governmental or economic system, but instead only requires for small groups of people to gather and develop local agencies to provide the services or product needed by either themselves or within their community.
it's a grass roots, bottom up, functional solution. and it's nothing new. try it.
