Valeria Watson-Doost aka Siju Osunyemi traveled to Osogbo, Nigeria in 2006 for a traditional African initiation under the direction of Chief Atanda, Asiwaju Awo Agbaye. This confirmed her US initiation of 2000.
As an adopted member of the Atanda family her husband Rainer Doost, a videographer, was permitted to obtain unusually intimate footage. You will follow an African-American woman's journey from Asheville NC to Lagos, to Osogbo, through three days of initiation, to blessings at the Osun temple, to the Sixteen Candle Light Celebration, being bathed in the Osun river in the Osun Grove and participation in the Osun Festival.
