Not far from City Hall and New York's financial district, a sacred space was unearthed beneath the shadows of the Ted Weiss Federal Building. Human remains linked to "New Amsterdam's" early African descendants were found during an excavation at the site near what is now 290 Broadway. This 17th Century resting place -- after a lengthy political struggle -- is now the African Burial Ground National Monument. (This was created on my MacBook using iMovie08; sound was recorded on a Sony digital recorder and uploaded to GarageBand08.)
