Employing gaze as an element for investigation, Antique’s Daughter explores the concept of the perception of the feminine. Drawing from the scrutiny of the artist and performer, the piece returns the stare to the audience.
Utilizing the idea of seeing, being seen and sacred space, the dancers break through the fourth wall that separates performer from audience, traveling into and out of the domain of the viewer.
With a performance history of a backyard, a bar and traditional theatre spaces, the performance region is defined beyond the stage, albeit set apart from the audience, creating a clear delineation between viewer sector and performer territory.

Choreographed by Jamey Garner (Work in Progress)
Performed by Katy Becker, Mica Cornell, Lightsey Darst, Jamey Garner, Don Mabley Allen, Arturo Miles, and Liz Schoenborn (March 2011)
