This video captured 651 ARTS 2011 Moving Words Residency with theater artist Monica L. Williams and the senior students of Paul Robeson High School including English Teacher, Stefanie Siegel. This three month long residency used August Wilson’s Piano Lesson to create a platform for students to openly express how their legacy will be remembered in a public school that is closing.

Moving Words is a literary series that features performing artists discussing the books that have influenced their work for an audience of area high school students. The purpose of the program is to use literacy as an access point for contemporary performance work and at the same time to encourage reading, critical thinking and provide a forum for discussion.
