Handlordz - Death Roll stunt (Finger Roll)
This is great! It's a gag you can do with your friends, magicians, XCMers, and card players. Serious 52 card pick up action!

Here's the description from De'vo:
So after XB II was released and we got a ton of great feedback, people really voiced that they loved the "Charlier Challenge" because they could "get" their friends, magicians, and normal joes with this move. The Charlier Challenge on XB2 really stumps 99% of all magicians/XCMers and laymen and I was proud to include it on the DVD set. I have been asked time and time again if I have more like this that they could use to get their friends, and I have a ton of them! So following along with the "Artist week" format, I decided to give you a free tutorial of one of my favorites for doing a "do what I do" routine or to get fellow artists. It's a simple Finger Roll done with a deck of cards. Finger Roll is nothing new, and I've used it for the past 20+ years with all kinds of objects. In fact, It was the single favorite move I did for Nokia and we used it exclusively for their commercials on several shoots. Those that have the cool high speed slow-motion clip of my phone finger roll Nokia shot in London a few years ago that's floating around know what I mean. It's also on the "2nd Nature" commercial that came out a few years ago.
Doing a Finger Roll with a deck of cards is really not that difficult after you get used to it. But until then,,, - Card Explosion! and that makes it PERFECT to do to other artists/magicians/gamblers etc... and that's why we nicknamed it the "Death Roll"... Most of the time people are too scared to even try, so it's also a nice way to shut people up. And if they do try it, you have a pretty damn good chance that cards will be everywhere! and if you train it, you can do it with 99% accuracy. This isn't a move for "on-line" manipulators since it's far too fast unless you slow it down which does look cool... it's more for those that want another move in their arsenal to mess with people. However I have a few openers that use the finger roll and work quite nicely as well as immediately doing a fan after which is pretty cool as well... but again, unless you slow down the footage, it goes by too quickly for video or normal performing, but for this application, it works nicely!
NOTE - that the deck isn't flipped in the air, it actually rotates around your index finger. Your finger must stay in contact with it the entire way to be a real finger roll! Now my cards are kind of loose as you can see in the video, so those that pack on the powder or use older cards will have even an easier time than I do! You may need to push forard a bit after the rotation to slow the rotation and grab the deck. Try to do it as shown in the video and grab it as it slows at the end with only 2 fingers. Now word of warning, if your deck is beveled or you don't do your rotation straight, or try to catch air, you'll have cards everywhere! I suggest starting in the box, and working your way up. also highly suggest sitting on the bed/couch or having something close to you so when you do drop - and you will eventually, you won't have far to go. Pretty soon the Death Roll will be as easy as a Charlier and you'll be able to get others on it all day long.
PS - the "Dick in the Box" joke... it's only funny if you've seen this: youtube.com/watch?v=WhwbxE...
Forgive some of the sloppyness of the vid, I threw it together for you this morning...
I hope you enjoy The Deck Finger Roll! - OR THE DEATH ROLL
