With the 2006 Kala Fellowship, Hung has initiated a grand project entitled
“Our Own Land, Where I Found this Landscape” which involves a series of interrelated video installations and photo sculptures. In this project, the human body is viewed as a landscape, the source of landscapes mirroring the world around us.
Emerging/Immersing is a video installation. Videotaped from above, two nude figures float semi-submerged in water. The figures' inert forms make slight movements, sinking and rising from beneath the water surface. In the completed piece, both videos are projected vertically on the wall and side by side such that the images become a topology of the human form as each floats in and out through the meniscus surface tension of a body of water.
