The inspiration for this comes from various sources, but there is a song from the 'Death and the Maiden' quartet by Franz Schubert I found particularly useful.

The Maiden:

Oh! leave me! Prithee, leave me! thou grisly man of bone!
For life is sweet, is pleasant.
Go! leave me now alone!
Go! leave me now alone!

Death:

Give me thy hand, oh! maiden fair to see,
For I'm a friend, hath ne'er distress'd thee.
Take courage now, and very soon
Within mine arms shalt softly rest thee!"

I continue to be impressed, Paul, by the range of film styles you can do... and do well. I'm a big fan of Tokyo Tales, but I have to say I think this here is my personal favorite of all your films. Really really well done.

Surrealistic, scary, wierd, dreamlike what more can I say. This is definitely a piece that inspires thought. A far departure from the comedic films of the past. Great job Paul.

Wow, Paul, what a great film! I've always been a fan of surreal, and here you mix it all perfectly - superb camera, sound and music... loved every minute of it!

I love this ! Excellent work, but more importantly excellent and original story, a lot of imagination and ideas here, that you have concretized in such a brilliant way. Bravissimo ! :)

Phil, I saw this at Machinima Expo just two days ago, and voted for it. If I choke up over a film then I know it's hit an emotional nerve. But it also satisfied all my aesthetic cravings. So beautifully done! I love surreality; in my ignorance I thought only SL machinima were tending that way, but you've shown me not only the creativity of MS but your own amazing abilities and sensitivities. At the risk of spoilers, let me say that the final scene just really got to me, and still does. "Feel everything, see nothing." But boy, what I saw, what I felt. Bravo for being short listed at machinExpo.

Thanks Vim for the vote and for the wonderful comment you've made on my film. Because of the time difference I actually missed the period when my movie was showing and any attention that may have been payed to it. Seeing the compliments you've payed me here gives me some relief that it wasn't playing to an empty house. Many many thanks : )
