Bangor International Airport is located in Maine USA, the first checkpoint for military members returning from Afghanistan and Iraq, and the last for those headed into battle. The airport sees approximately five flights per day, returning from the war zone or departing for combat.

Since the beginning of the conflicts in 2003, BIA has counted some five thousand military flights and over one million soldiers that have passed through on route home, or into harms way. Upon arrival, the troops are free to lounge, eat, call home or have a shave.
