Nino Rota is world-famous as composer of nearly every film score of the films by Federico Fellini. Probably we all know - even we we can`t remember who wrote them - some of his melodies, either from Fellinis "La Strada", "8 1/2", "La Dolce Vita", or from films by Lina Werthmueller, Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi or Coppola`s "Godfather" trilogy.
But Rota was much more than the gifted composer of nearly 800 film scores: he was also the composer of wonderful classical music. He consigned reams of songs, chamber music, orchestral pieces, and concerts for solo-instruments and orchestra. And on top of that he divided his time, energy and life between the strange, sometimes shallow and superficial world of the Movies and his everyday world of being a teacher at and later the head of the music conservatory in the city of Bari, in (at the time) remote and rather poor Puglia.
This film is a decitated and affectionate account of his life and his music. With Suso Cecchi d`Amico, Riccardo Muti, Prudenzina and many others.
