Tricky. I think the whole lot was shot on your phone. :)

The difference is in the DOF, I don't know what lenses where used but sure the 5D sensor gives you less focused deep. So, the winner is ...

lenses you could go on both cameras the same with adaptor... so dof would come out the same in the end... but when you look at the first shoots with the christmas lights... and you look in the blacks. i think that the ex3 gives you the dark black and no detail in it and the II gives you the dark but still more detail in it... like brown , kinda clouds... I think the only difference in the final product would be the size of the chips. MII has a one inch chip and the ex3 1/2 inch... dof, you can get it with letus adaptors and use the same lens then the II has. Right wrong? i am a new user of a ex3 and friends of mine are getting the II .

EX3 is a real video camera. On the other hand the MARK II is a totally different beast altogether. As a video camera it still fails miserably but as i said the SDOF as well as the LOW LIGHTING is awesome cos the sheer size of its sensor. IMO if you are a photographer and starting on video maybe the EOS MARK II. On the other hand if you are serious videographer..the EX3 naturally..hands down!

thanks derek... im smiling again... and i guess also for operation purposes. You can buy shoulder mounts for the mark II, than i guess also the capability of storing your footage, with and ex3 you could shoot none stop for ever with having the chance of switching in between the cards.
But i do have one question derek. I still am just getting used to my ex3 and we don't really have the weather outside to do it, im just not getting to view my stuff on my mac yet... (in the browser). Im operating on a IMAC, the latest and it seems not to recognize the files. Im buying a mac book pro in the next days but if you have any idea send me some links for upgrades. I got one the 2.0.1 for the clip browser, but its not the right one i think

You have to download the XDCam Transfer program from Sony. It will convert the files into quicktime files that are ready to be used on FCP

    hello reynold,

I own the EX1 the EX3 the MARK II and i can tell you that you have a great camera and made a great choice. Add the PHUK-60K to it and you have one "mother" of a camera. The Mac Transfer Utility should be here

    sony.ca/xdcamex/software.htm

download it and that would be for usage with your MACBOOK PRO for use in FCP.

thanks.... i thought that i could set it all up before i get my final cut studio... but i have to get it first... thanks though for the link. Sony send it to, i just thought that i could do it somehow down-converting to play around in final cut express. I can with the one for optical disc... but it only down-converts to ipod really for me... so ill go get the mac book pro and studio now. Anyone needs and imac?

I'd say beginning up to 0:33 is EX?
    0:34 to 1:11 5D (except I don't about kid eating)?
Curious to know if I had the beginning right:)

the people eating are EX, the branch after are 5D. The guy with the camera not sure, think EX1 or bad focus...the I'd expect more texture detail in the green coat from the 5D. The opening shot that shows wood floor detail is 5D. Not sure on the rest, possibly a mix.

Do you have an EX1/EX3 footage recorded from HD-SDI to a computer or Flash XDR bypassing the MPEG2 compression? My guess is that would be better than the 5D.

In the shots of the X-mas trees. I say the EX3 is the camera with the whiter lights on the tree. The Mark II had the yellower lights?

    Am I right? :)
