Jones Falls is snuggled into a hamlet with a fish sanctuary a few miles outside the village of Elgin, Ontario where Whitefish and Sand Lakes are joined by 19th Century locks and canals. And, where the locks to this day are operated by hand.

A United Nations World Heritage Site that hasn't change much in the last 175 years. Here, silence is often loud and the echo is the cry of a loon. Queen Victoria's daughter, Princess Louise, asserted Jones Falls to be "the most beautiful place in all Canada."

American President William Howard Taft fished from an armchair on the hotel docks because he didn't fit well into a boat. And because the journey was long, he would stay for a while.

And still, there is the loon and the quiet that comes after which lasts never quite long enough.

Jones Falls and Hotel Kenney are still a place to forget there are other places.
