As a 16th century commedia dell'arte performer, he improvises at every turn with the help of his faithful troupe of performers. But he can't help wondering: Has his life held any meaning? When he begins to doubt, Scala does what comes naturally; He improvises, taking drastic measures to ensure that his life and work will be remembered.
