Hung over people escape from the freezing beach to the pub - an Oscar winning plot no doubt
------
The Technicalities.
This is a test of the Nikon D90 14/2.8 and merlin steadicam (naked - no vest)
Steadicam is hard to do - Im trying to learn
My initial thesis was that the D90/Merlin combo is too light to work well when subjected to acceleration - most footage on the web cuts into rolling movement which is not accelerating
Im getting there and getting more hopeful that the rig can work..
You may observe a couple of shots that open with the camera stationary and also a couple of pretty sharp pans with controlled (ish) stops, some booming and use in a moving vehicle - my controlling the horizon is still horrible when running
D90 jello is rarely visible only on the sharpest pans
The camera cannot be focussed and indoors we see some rolling shutter flicker
Of course we get a wide perspective and narrow DOF not available in similar priced movie cameras which when given a tweak in FCP starts to give the illusive cinematic feel .............. maybe
