SHOVEL SONG #3: RADIANT FACES - Psalm 34 - Worship@8500 - June 26, 2011
This was the other group involved in the previous session, "Not Too Far." I stuck with these guys and we came up with a new cord progression and were singing the Psalm over it when the chorus just came out of nowhere. It inspired the verses and pretty soon the song was done. There was a bit of a moment that day, in the hot sun and after a long, lovely, hard-working weekend festival that I wondered if we'd dig deep enough...but I think what came of it was worth the sweat.

LYRICS: Radiant faces, we are not ashamed, in the poor man finds his place
You are poor, he'll fill your cup//Swim in him and drink him up
The sea is near, it's filled with love//If you are broken, he'll bind you up
Radiant faces, we are not ashamed, in the poor man finds his place
If you are weak, he'll make you strong//If you are voiceless, he'll be your song
Just look for him, his lovely face//And let the darkness be displaced
Radiant faces, we are not ashamed, in the poor man finds his place
Bright, so bright, you light me up//Radiant faces, we are not ashamed, in the poor man finds his place
