Watching the Vienna Boys Choir in the Hofburgkapelle. Seeing them as part of a high mass was exquisitely painful. The boredom of the mass and tediousness of the ceremony was tough to sit through, while at the same time showing the beauty of the choir's voices in the exact setting that it was created for. For most of the mass the boys were out of sight in an upper gallery and it was only at the very end that they came down to the main floor to perform this last hymn. Until that point I was still thinking that I could be listening to a CD.
