Moths orient themselves at night on the moon, mislead by an illusion and they can end up circling for hours around a lantern. As for the moths our idea of the reality in which we live is dependent on our perspective on things that surround us.
A central topic of this cinematic journey is the relativity of reality formation by subjective perceptions. The pictures interact with visual experiences of the viewer like asthetical knowledge of media such as computer games & movies, sense of time or mimic recognition. The film is structured by a German manifesto of cut up latin letters which seem to belong to a different far eastern culture.
Filmed 2002 and 2003 in Germany, Sibiria, Mongolia, Italy and the US.
The film is the first chapter in a series of three that all together are merged in the film "The World's Simile" (57min, 2005)
