Would be very nice if the lights would stop when we stop. Combining traditional lights with this will be awesome.
  • revolights 6 months ago
Nice suggestion, Kent (the inventor and engineer) is currently working on modifying the illumination pattern when you are at rest to address this. As a team we are still determining what we think would be the safest and more effective stationary pattern. Thanks for the feedback!

Would be nice to be able to have a choice of at rest options either through USB or NFC with a mobile and app.

Great! I just have one concern. It seems like the LED "blinking" frequency is fixed (or?..) so, if you go faster does this make the light part be higher on the wheel? In other words, does the bike speed affect the light position on the wheels?!
  • revolights 6 months ago
Great question... Actually the current version includes a magnetic timing mechanism that calculates your speed and, based on an algorithm, maintains a consistently illuminated arc. For more information please visit our kickstarter page at the link included just below the video. Thanks
  • Ara Yeramian 6 months ago
Thanks for the clarification! NOW it is more interesting :o)
I actually did check the website, but didn't find an explanation regarding the relation of the light position and the bike speed.
Looking forward for the commercial version.
btw, PLEASE offer it through amazon as well! I live in Germany. Perhaps you can offer international shipping options on your ordering page in future.
    Thanks again.

Hey Ara go take a look at the pledge rewards on our kickstarter page. We are currently taking pre-orders for international customers. All pertinent details can be found there. Thanks for your support!

Very awesome, I'm about to support you on Kickstarter. Version 4 looks great. My only concern is the battery pack... it seems like the only clumsy part of the otherwise very elegant solution to bicycle lighting. How does the battery pack clip to hubs?
  • revolights 6 months ago
Thanks for the interest. You can contact us for additional details at info@revolights.com and we can forward your design questions on to Kent who is the inventor and engineer.

May I ask where the video music is from?
  • revolights 6 months ago
The music in the video is actually from South Africa. It is by a band named Goldfish, the song is called Mbira Beat. Here's a link:

This project is amazing! I wrote a post about it and have told several people - I want a pair of these lights so bad for my own bike :)

Oh! Also, could you go in and add a thumbnail to this video? I was going to share it on facebook and a few other places, but I was just worried people wouldn't click it if it was just the black thumbnail :P

Anyway, keep up the amazing work! So excited to see more.

Great idea. All ways to increase a biker's safety are worth supporting. However, I have doubts: is this kind of lighting is compatible with law (legal) regulations in some countries (altitude and kind of positioning lighting) ? best regards!

This is the same thing as a product that I worked with years ago called Hokey Spokes; hokeyspokes.com/

Looks great! It would be nice if it could be connected to a hub dynamo. Most city bikes are equipped with hub dynamos nowadays, and I would prefer not to depend on batteries. Besides, in Germany a law prohibits you to use battery light on the streets.

Very nice, i hope your speaking to wheel manufacturers to get this built into wheels too.
