same lenses on both cameras?
I'd like to see reversal, Tungsten stocks looks and Fuji.
All those 3 stock types you mentioned are coming soon, and some surprises :)
But one question here, all the examples of the RED One MX Footage look like they are processed to RedLogFilm + RedColor2 and not a linear viewing space like the Kodak.
Any reason you wouldnt grade that down to look the same? I understand the grain simulation bit, but the gamma?
In terms of color, we render the R3d internally to redcolor2. This was based on advice from Graeme, and is supposed to be future proof with changes coming to Epic.
The Gamma is redgamma2 - also the recommended gamma. IT does look different to our print LUT, and for this reason we are allowing people to render without this LUT applied. This should be in the next release.
I was wondering about that one.
Having the ability to output minus the LUT makes a lot of sense cause then the user decides if he/she wants to have the gamma embedded or otherwise.
Even allowing a nifty drop down to choose the colorspace/gammaspace before your LUT+GrainMgmt kicks in might be a great idea for RED/Alexa RAW/Phantom Cine footage.
Also, it helps post facilities with a calibrated LUT end up using FilmConvert as a stepping stone to achieving the desired result in DI.
Great tool btw guys.
Will keep an eye out closely on this one.
Cheers
Obviously this is a hard question to answer, since final specs aren't out yet on the Scarlet, but do you anticipate any issues using FilmConvert with a Scarlet workflow?
2) RED's ISO is metadata, how does the software interpret the ISO for the r3d's files?
3) What if red footage was not shot at emulating stock's ISO?
Thank you.
To just say this is what film looks like - seems subjective to the color grade and the colorist.
