Handmade painted dolls are by Gusti Ngurah Semarajaya at novica.com
Shot with a Canon 7D, Tokina 16-50mm f2.8, and a Tokina 100mm f2.8 macro lens. All editing in Premiere Pro CS5.5.
This is all an experiment...this is a result of combining different footage with Premiere Pro CS5.5 blending modes (but it's the same with previous versions of Premiere).
I got all my effects in Premiere Pro CS5.5 with blending modes. I layered three videos on the timeline...two of identical clips of the painted doll on top, and the bottom layer clip was of some AquaGems (liquid marbles) floating in a vase (to give it movement from underneath).
Then I experimented with various blending modes with the two upper layers of the doll clips - usually a mixture of "hard mix" and either "hue" or "color" or "saturation". I tried different ones on different clips to get the color blending that worked for each one. Sometimes I also layered in a third layer of the doll footage on top, or added a colored matte on top and also applied a blend mode.
It seemed to work better since the dolls have painted faces...and layering it over more subtle moving footage seemed to give it movement and variety.
I'll be doing more with this soon :)
