Hi everyone,
I'm really excited about a new piece that I'm developing for Mediate Art Group's Playback Concerts. It takes place in a World War II bunker in the Marin Headlands, and needless to say it's one of the most resonant spaces I've played in. Short audio samples of the room and more information can be found here:

The piece is being developed in collaboration with Suki O'Kane (bass drum), Adam Fong (double bass), Tako Oda (countertenor) and myself (Sho, Hichiriki & P'iri). I hope you all can make this one.

Thingamajigs is a genre-crossing arts organization that promotes, presents and performs music and other art forms created with made and found materials or alternate tuning systems.
Our mission is to develop and nurture the exploration of alternate materials and methods of creating sound, as well as promote collaborative efforts within other artistic disciplines not generally associated with festivals of music. With open workshops and performances, we welcome audiences/participants of all ages and backgrounds to join in a wonderful tradition started in the Bay Area by such composers as Harry Partch, Lou Harrison, and John Cage.

Introduced in 2010, Battery Townsley explored the extreme resonances inside and around of this historic WWII harbor fortification overlooking the ocean in the hills of the Marin Headlands. August 7 features performances by electroacoustic duo Date Palms w/ Trevor Montgomery & Michael Elrod, vocal dance ensemble M. Mara Ann’s Sugar Pine Tesla, and composer/sound artist Edward Schocker.
DATE PALMS W/ TREVOR MONTGOMERY & MICHAEL ELROD
'Of Psalms' is a strange, yet fantastic fusing of Eastern style raga drones, and hypnotic Spacemen 3 style bass buzz. The music is almost like some sort of slowcore, spacerock, dronedrift that is abstract and minimal. datepalmsofpsalms.com/
M. MARA-ANN'S SUGAR PINE TESLA
M. Mara-Ann is a San Francisco based vocalist, writer, and performance artist whose multi-disciplinary work employs improvised music, dance, text, video, and theater to explore topics of the environment. She is the founder and creative director of Flying Deer Theater, which is currently producing the five-part intermedia performance series The Containment Scenario Project. Mara holds an MFA from Mills College in creative writing with cross-disciplinary emphasis in music, media, and performance.
Sugar Pine Tesla is M. Mara-Ann’s newest composition for voice and movement, developed to leverage the unique interior architecture and resonance of Battery Townsley with the dynamic cross-disciplinary talent of the vocal-dance cast of the Containment Scenario series. Performing a work integrating composition, choreography, and structured improvisation, Sugar Pine Tesla will engage and activate the particular sonic, visual, and constructive aspects of the submerged concrete and steel structure to generate an aural and visual surround sound, multi-directional, moving, shifting, reverberating intermedia work. Images and video featuring the Containment Scenario cast are located at medusa.org.
