Rod Taylor left city life behind and retired to a small piece of land in the middle of the Yorke Peninsula. His place sits amongst fields of crops - however, his land is devoted to re- vegetation.
With the assistance of Trees for Life Rod has planted hundreds of native trees and shrubs, with still more planting still planned for the future. Most of the trees are less than a year old, however bird and reptile life are already returning to the property.
The few trees he put in when he bought the property are already twice his height. Rod expects that over the next few years, his carefully placed seedlings will turn into a hand made forest.
Rod took a moment to share his passion for re-vegetation, in the hope of inspiring others to plant natives on their land.
“You don’t need to be an expert on plants, and there is a lot of help and information available to get you started” says Rod.
I am traveling in the Yorke Peninsula this week. Do you have an interesting creative project on the go? Leave a comment and I will drop past if I can!
